Dressed by an Olive,
From sampling a selection of extra virgin olive oils as young as eight weeks old, to a number of fused and infused olive oils with such flavours as butter, herb, mushroom, and white and dark truffles, to a personal favourite – lemon fused, where the lemons are crushed with the olives – it was an experience to make any non-cooker want to dust the cobwebs out of her oven and roast up some chicken PDQ!
Following the olive oils, we sampled a range of premium white and dark balsamic vinegars, fused with such flavours as dark chocolate, espresso, blueberry, cinnamon-pear, raspberry, and red apple. It was enough to cause several foodgasms amongst the ladies present as we all oohed and aahed over the explosion of flavours in our mouths.
The store owners, Dan and Merja, helped us pair up the oils and vinegars to create masterpieces of flavour such as butter olive oil with maple balsamic vinegar to create a taste fusion better than any maple syrup to pour over pancakes and crêpes.
Our night was a flurry of tasting and buying, but also a delicious four course dinner using Dressed by an Olive products, cooked on location by local chef Johnny Oran of Joie Catering who fed us such delicacies as pork belly with arugula and watermelon radishes; poached halibut on mascarpone cheese with fennel and whipped pineapple juice; fresh cooked spaghetti flavoured with black truffle olive oil; finished off with a delicious cake with walnut crumble that left us licking our plates clean.
Along with the food experience, the olive oils and balsamic vinegars had us all licking the inside of our sample cups and clamoring for more. We literally sampled ourselves thirsty!

I would like to say thank you to Dan and Merja for warmly welcoming us to their fabulous store, Dressed by an Olive, for an informative, fun, and delicious experience.
Next, we sampled the world of “fused” and “infused” oils. The flavours were unbelievable, and at this point the guests were starting to hum with happiness. We were then introduced to Johnny, a classically trained chef who began the dance of “Foodie Love”!
Our next foray was into the intriguing world of balsamic vinegars. Reds, whites – again infused with a dizzying array of flavours. Ladies were sipping it like wine! Chef Johnny kept up the “dance,” and we were having a blast.
Just when you thought there could be no more, we were introduced to the art of marrying olive oils with balsamic vinegars in overwhelming combinations and tastes. Chef Johnny of Joie Catering continued to amaze us with treats using the wonderful products and combinations we were learning about.
Dressed by an Olive is first class, the products are very reasonably priced, and Dan and Merja are passionate about what they do.
